Mining Claims: What, Where, and Why The Confusion?
The map above shows the various
combinations of Surface ownership, mineral ownership, and valid and
non valid claims. This acreage is located in the heart of East Butte,
between Mount Brown and Mount Royal. The answers are not simple.
Every combination possible exists. The valid claims are located in
the central "square" area, mostly in the upper left and lower right
sections. The Invalid claims are those next to the number 30, nearly
all of the lower left section of the "square" and the left side half
of the upper right. A color copy of this map is available in the
Final Amendment/EIS.
